My dad took away my xbox, what should I do to get it back?

Question

My dad took away my xbox, what should I do to get it back?
So basically Im and my dad took my xbox away as soon as mw came out and obviously I was pissed because I just spent on a new game, I also recently bought fifa and battlefield , as well as pay for xbox live. He took it away because he doesnt think that I study hard enough even though Im getting reasonable grades considering theres still another weeks before the exams and I personally think that an hour a days study is enough at this point. Im not obsessed with it or addicted its just annoying when Ive spent a lot of money on something and he just takes it away, hes had it for over weeks and its really starting to annoy me because I want to play with and talk to my friends. I cant go out as often because its too cold and dark all the time now so theres really no other ways to kill time other than watch tv and stuff. Any ideas?

Answer

As a dad of two teenage sons who LOVE Xbox, Yes, I have some ideas...brbrSit down with your dad and ask HIM about what it would take. An hour a day of studying is not enough... studying and schoolwork is not based on time spent, its based on how youre doing and the grades youre getting.brbrWe dont allow gaming during a school week, only on weekends. You could propose that. We also require at least a B average or theres no gaming at all. brbrKeep in mind that, from a parents perspective, gaming never comes first. Education is very high on the priority list because so much depends on how and what you do with your education. Gaming will get you nothing as far as your career goes. It is entertainment and nothing else. If you remember that when you approach your dad, things will go better. I know and Im a dad AND a gamer.brbrI also disagree that theres no other way to kill time. Books, real games, talk to your friends on the phone, projects, take up guitar, etc., etc.
